We are about to enter the alluring world of LAURA COLORS, from the real beauty and adorable unique characters that make up Laura’s paintings to the vinyl art toys she has painted with her husband, Eric. Together, the two of them make up the Artist Collective 64 COLORS.
In 2010, Eric designed his first vinyl art toy: Marshall the marshmallow boy. Laura loved it so much that she could not stop painting and customizing them. Soon, things began to take off and in 2011, 64 Colors was given the honor of designing several DUNNYs and MUNNYs for KIDROBOT.
Laura has been an artist her entire life. As a child, she picked up a crayon to color like most kids do, but her experience was a bit different. She basically never put it down. She only moved on to different art mediums as she got older. Currently. Laura is focused on her paintings, which are usually done on wood or canvas, and always include bits of things she loves most, including patina, nature, and fairy tales. Her adorable and unique characters have each been given personalities that come through strongly in her work.
Laura has expressed wanting her characters to come to life, so she recently started felting. Other than that, she has also been experimenting with slow drying golden acrylics and oil paint. As an artist who has always painted with acrylics, Laura finds oil painting more challenging, but she will not stop until she is comfortable with these new mediums.
Based in Michigan, Laura is a renowned BIG EYE ART, SURREALIST painter. Mostly inspired by the outdoors, her studio is surrounded by woods and beautiful trees. This is where she finds peace and thrives most while working on her craft. There are so many details going on within her work. One can look at most of her paintings for hours trying to come up with different ideas of what they may mean in general, or what they may mean to themselves personally. As a fan myself I enjoy the wondrous and magical stories that can be told through her art.
To quote the artist: “I will never tell you my story though, I want the viewer to interact with my work and have their own personal experience with it.” She admits to putting a little part of herself in every piece of art she creates, but she prefers to keep the specifics of her stories to herself. Which, in most cases, is even more intriguing to the viewer.
These are some of the most amazing prints I’ve seen before! Laura Colors is truly an amazing artist!
